Monuments, statues and street names... from Calvin to Gandhi, numerous figures from the past have taken over Geneva's urban spaces. From personalities consecrated by local elites to figures evoking the international Geneva, which individuals do public authorities want to remember? In response to the mobilisation of associations and politicians, the City of Geneva has initiated a reflection on the tributes paid in the public space to personalities who encouraged racism and colonialism. Based on the study commissioned by the City from Professors Mohammad-Mahmoud Ould Mohamedou and Davide Rodogno of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, this second round table will discuss the concrete strategies raised by the study. What conclusions can be drawn from this work? What avenues for the future? During the 20th edition of the FIFDH, the first round table took stock of the situation in Geneva.
