Look What You Made Me Do
By Coco Schrijber
In her latest documentary, Dutch director Coco Schrijber allows Laura, Rachel and Rosalba, victims of violence, to speak out about the unthinkable: the homicide of their partner. Through this three-part series of poignant testimonies, a global reality is exposed: "Every year, throughout the world, more than 30,000 women are killed by their partners". Drawing a symbolic parallel with the work of Artemisia Gentileschi in which she slits her rapist's throat, "Look What You Made Me Do", raises questions. Is there an alternative to murder?
WARNING: This film contains scenes that may shock (explicit violence, death), especially with the case of Tatiane Spitzner, a 29-year-old Brazilian woman who died on 22 July 2018 after being violently beaten by her husband.
