Grands entretiens

The photo I didn't take | Véronique de Viguerie

Fifteen years after escaping a suicide bombing in Kabul, French photographer Véronique de Viguerie is haunted by those who tried to assassinate her. Her obsession is with a Taliban whose green eyes have been seen worldwide. Published and misappropriated by the victors and the vanquished, his photo has become the symbol of war. When the green-eyed Taliban resurfaces, it is no longer just a question of photography but of the tragedy of Afghan history. Véronique de Viguerie lived through the departure of American troops, the return of the Taliban to power in August 2021 and the desperate flight of thousands of Afghans. A meeting on stage, in images and words, moderated by Léna Mauger, editor of XXI and 6Mois magazines, in the framework of the new podcast "y'a pas photo", produced by Binge Audio and the FIFDH.
