Chinese Gulag survivor: first testimony of an Uyghur survivor: a conversation with Gulbahar Haitiwaji
Gulbahar Haitiwaji was born in the Uyghur province of Xinjiang, China. In 2006, she and her husband moved to France with their two daughters. Ten years later, on her return home to settle an administrative matter, Gulbahar is arrested and sent to an internment and "re-education" camp. She was released in August 2019, after more than two years of living hell. Her book Rescapée du goulag chinois, co-written with Rozenn Morgat, is a poignant and rare testimony that exposes the brutality and violence of the Chinese concentration camp system.
