Black and Swiss: putting an end to systemic racism
The death of George Floyd triggered an unprecedented outpouring throughout the world. Thanks to these numerous testimonies, many Swiss people seemed to discover the racism that some of their compatriots experience on a daily basis. Almost two years later, the film Je suis noires, co-directed by Rachel M'Bon and Juliana Fanjul, tells the story of how black Swiss women have built their identity in a country that did not look like them... until now. Time has come to look ahead and find pragmatic solutions. The world is changing, Switzerland is evolving and the guests of this round table are finding ways to normalize being both black and Swiss.

Je suis noires
By Juliana Fanjul & Rachel M'Bon
June 2020. Crowds take to the streets of Geneva, Zurich and Lausanne to denounce systemic racism: an unprecedented occurrence in Switzerland, a country that continues to deny any association with slavery and colonial power. Touched by this sudden outpouring of solidarity, Rachel M'Bon, a mixed-race Swiss journalist accompanied by filmmaker Juliana Fanjul, sets out to meet women who speak of their quest for identity in a country apparently so tolerant.
