Her Mothers
By Asia Dér & Sári Haragonics
As the Hungarian political climate grows ever more radical, Virág, an ecologist politician, withdraws from public life. Together with her partner, musician Nóra, she decides to adopt a Roma child and devote herself to tending to her home. But while Virág flourishes in her role as a mother, tensions arise within the couple at a time when homophobia is on the rise in the country. A slow-burn of a movie, simultaneously bitter and sweet, and the story of a great love. A film poignant in its humanity.
