Once Upon A Time In Venezuela
By Anabel Rodríguez Ríos
Once upon a time in Venezuela, Congo Mirador - a village on Lake Maracaibo - was decomposing as oil rose from the depths of the water. Two women refuse to give in to idleness: Tamara, who worships Chavez, and her opponent Natalie, who denounces the country’s endemic corruption. This film, selected in the most important festivals, announces an incredible talent. Anabel Rodríguez Ríos paints a village and a country tinged with magical realism, utopias, poetry and collapsing hopes.
Co-presented with the Musée d’Ethnographie de Genève (MEG) and L’Abri
