About Radio Silence: Carmen Aristegui, the voice of Mexico's independent press

As a multi-awarded journalist, Carmen Aristegui is one of the few voices in Mexico able to speak freely on the airwaves. She does not hesitate to expose corruption networks at the highest levels of State and clergy. In 2015, she was abruptly fired from the radio station that employed her. But Carmen never gives up: despite the threats against her and her family, she decided to create her own internet platform to continue to raise awareness about important issues in an intoxicated Mexican media landscape on a daily basis. Carmen Aristegui will not be silenced. The journalist is one of the few voices in Mexico to speak freely on the airwaves to millions of listeners. In 2015, she was sharply dismissed after revealing a corruption scandal involving the president. But Carmen never gives up: despite constant threats, she creates her own platform and continues to raise awareness in Mexico’s toxic media landscape. A story carefully filmed in close-up by Juliana Fanjul, in which resistance becomes a form of survival.
