Out of competition - Fiction

Marighella

By Wagner Moura

This breathtaking biopic portrays Carlos Marighella, a Brazilian Marxist politician, poet and activist who was assassinated by the military dictatorship in 1969. Directed by actor Wagner Moura (Tropa de Elite, Narcos) and portrayed by the charismatic musician Seu Jorge, Marighella draws us into the whirlwind of violence, conviction and bravery that characterized popular resistance to the dictatorship. An epic saga to match the courage of this deeply complex figure.
