Autour d'un film

About Serendipity: Prune Nourry, from intimacy to cinema

"In the museum, some people halt one work, others on another. There is a mixture of chance and intuition in the work that catches your eye: it's serendipity." The work of visual artist Prune Nourry is exhibited the world over. For the past 15 years, she has brilliantly explored the fields of bioethics, the female body and fertility, mixing sculpture, video and photography. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, her world was turned upside down: Prune Nourry decided to turn her camera on herself and transform her disease into an artistic odyssey. A conversation, led by Tatyana Franck, about the intimacy of one of the most prolific artists of her generation, and the role of cinema in this exploration.

Serendipity

By Prune Nourry

Prune Nourry, renowned visual artist and sculptress, makes her film debut with this moving documentary produced by Darren Aronofsky and Angelina Jolie, with the close collaboration of Agnès Varda. While focusing her work on the power of women, their bodies, and fertility, Prune Nourry learns that she is suffering from breast cancer. She is 30 years old, and decides to face this painful journey camera in hand. The intimate and the universal intertwine, as do her work and her illness, forming an ode to life and courage, before the victory song resounds. What if everything we call "chance" were in fact connected in a mysterious way?
