Is It the End of Human Rights' Universality?
On the political stage, the universality of human rights is either promoted or denied: two-tier international justice or selective indignation based on the origins of the victims for example. While part of the "West" is dismantling rights that were previously taken for granted - the withdrawal of the United States from the UN Human Rights Council, or the EU agreements to contain migration in countries where migrants' rights are violated - the struggle to recognize our common humanity must be fought. Questioning the selective indignation and impunity of some must go hand in hand with the defence of human rights and our dignity.
Zero Impunity is a bitterly ironic contemporary story. While we have a legal arsenal to condemn sexual violence in wartime, impunity remains the rule.
The debate will be held in English with simultaneous French translation.
