Foudre
By Carmen Jaquier
Switzerland, at the beginning of the last century: the young Elisabeth must suddenly leave the convent and return to her family. The mysterious death of her older sister pushes her to defy social norms and explore the paths to emancipation. Carmen Jaquier's first feature film combines the power of the Swiss mountains with the fervour of a story of female emancipation, delivered with sensuality and emotion. With remarkable actors and brilliant camera work, "Foudre" transcends time.
