Josep
By Aurel |
Cartoonist Aurel's first film and laureate of the European Film Award for Best Animated Film, Josep mixes press cartoon, comic strip and painting to tell the story of the Retirada and tell the fate of those Spanish refugees imprisoned in French concentration camps in 1939. In this hellish place, a peculiar friendship is born between a gendarme and Josep Bartoli, an anti-Franco fighter and poet, who will come to be one of the century’s most important painters and cartoonists.
