This Rain Will Never Stop
By Alina Gorlova
Having fled the war in Syria, the Suleyman family is dispersed from Kurdish Iraq to Ukraine where Andriy, a Red Cross volunteer during an armed conflict, lives. During a visit to one of his brothers in Germany, he is faced with a dilemma: to flee the war or continue helping its victims. Constructed as an infinite cycle of war and peace, this majestic work, which won an award at the IDFA, impresses with its monochrome style and heart-rending narrative.
